Geographical area
The Youyou of Senegal lives in several countries of central and western Africa: Senegal, therefore, but Nigeria, Mali, Togo, Côte d’Ivoire, and Chad. Its natural habitat is in wooded and arid savannahs. However, the species also like baobab forests.
It is also not uncommon to find this bird in some European cities, especially Barcelona in Spain, where it has become perfectly acclimatized.
Breed History
To the Swedish naturalist Carl von Linné, we owe the description of the Youyou parrot of Senegal in 1766.
