Geographical area
The Javan Padda is a bird species native to Indonesia, more specifically, the islands of Java (hence its name), Bali, and Bawean. It mainly inhabits areas near rivers and bamboo forests.
The Java Padda is also found in other Asian countries, such as Burma or Sri Lanka, and Pacific Islands (Hawaii).
Breed History
The description of the Padda of Java was made in 1758 by the Swedish naturalist Carl Linnæus (Carl von Linné).
While it is now considered a famous cage bird, its IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) conservation status is Vulnerable.
